KPK detains Tasikmalaya Mayor Budi Budiman

The Mayor of Tasikmalaya, Budi Budiman, was officially detained by the KPK. Budi is a suspect in the alleged bribery case against former Finance Ministry official (Kemenkeu), Yaya Purnomo.

Budi will be detained for 20 days at the KPK Kavling C1 Branch Detention Center from today until November 11, 2020. To implement a health protocol to prevent COVID-19, Budi will be isolated first.

The KPK named Budi as a suspect for allegedly giving bribes in connection with his application for the Tasikmalaya Special Allocation Fund (DAK). The total alleged bribe amounted to 400 million rupees.

“It is suspected that the suspect gave a total of 400 million rupees in connection with the administration of the DAK (Special Assignment Fund) for the city of Tasikmalaya for the fiscal year 2018 to Yaya Purnomo and her friends,” said the director of relations KPK officials, Febri Diansyah, at his office, Jalan Kuningan Persada, in South Jakarta. Budi is suspected of violating article 5, paragraph 1, letter a or b, or article 13 of the Anti-Corruption Law, together with article 64, paragraph 1, of the Penal Code. Budi is the seventh suspect in the maelstrom of the alleged bribery case related to the DAK administration.
