LIVE – The investigation team of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) checks the car used by the six deceased Special Forces of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) during a confrontation with the police.
The verification was carried out by the head of the Komnas HAM investigation team, Choirul Anam, for about an hour. At least three vehicles were searched. Komnas HAM Commissioner Beka Ulung Hapsara admitted that she was unable to reveal many of the findings because she had to do a bit of research to draw conclusions.
“We cannot yet conclude whether the statements transmitted by police colleagues at Komnas HAM are identical or not, because it needs a deeper analysis,” he said at the Polda Metro Jaya headquarters on Monday, December 21, 2020.
However, if you look at the car allegedly boarded by the FPI Special Army, it looks quite damaged. There appear to be two shot marks on the windshield, the front bumper and then the left rear wheel leaving only the wheels without tires. Beka added, several aspects that still need to be delved further, such as matching the ballistics tests with the shots lodged in the cars.
Then, he continued, the positions of the shooters and the soldiers who were shot must also match. Therefore, Komnas HAM still opens the opportunity to re-question members of the police as witnesses. Likewise, examine the deceased members of the FPI Laskar family, as well as other witnesses.
“This includes blood tests of whoever the FPI members are. Those in that corner, this corner also needs a closer examination. Of course, we will examine the police witnesses and we will also examine the information of the families of the victims, “he said again.
The case of the death of 6 members of the FPI Laskar who were shot by the police continues to roll and becomes the center of public attention. Currently, the case has also been taken up by Bareskrim Polri. Previously, this case was handled by Polda Metro Jaya.
Apart from the police, Komnas HAM has also moved to investigate. They even summoned several high-ranking police officers, such as Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Fadil Imran, Kabareskrim, Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and the Police Medical Examiner.
Related to that, President Jokowi said that Indonesia is a state based on law. Therefore, the law must be obeyed and applied to protect the interests of the people, the nation and the state.
On Monday morning, the FPI and their families of six soldiers visited Komnas HAM. Their arrival was also to show the evidence they had about the shooting of the six members of the FPI.
“We, from the legal team of six martyrs, victims of alleged serious human rights violations committed by the police, plan together with several national figures to come to Komnasham RI to provide our version of evidence and explanation to Komnas HAM,” said the attorney for the FPI and the family of six soldiers, Azis. Yanuar, to journalists, on the night of Sunday, December 20, 2020. (ren)
