The Citilink plane with flight number QG 1107 on the Jakarta-Yogyakarta route crashed into a kite while landing at the Yogyakarta Adisutjipto International Airport, yesterday Friday (10/23).

The plane departing from Jakarta’s Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport landed in Yogyakarta around 4:46 p.m. WIB. Three minutes later, a kite was found on the flywheel of the plane during the review process after the plane stopped and was parked.

“When checking the plane, the operational team found the kite stuck in the upper part of the right wheel of the plane,” said the general manager of Adisutjipto International Airport, Agus Pandu Purnama, in his statement on Saturday (10/24).


After further verification, Agus said, no damage was found on the Citilink plane.

“The aircraft is in safe condition and ready to continue its flight,” he said.

Regarding this incident, Agus appealed to the public not to play kites in the airport area. Because it is very dangerous.

“If the kite gets stuck in the propeller of the plane, the risk of aviation accidents and the occurrence of fatalities is very high,” said Agus.

The ban, said Agus, has been regulated in Article 210 of Law No. 1 of 2009 on Aviation.

The rules prohibit anyone from being in a certain area of ​​the airport, creating obstacles and / or participating in other activities in the area of ​​aviation operations that may endanger aviation security, unless permission is obtained from the authorities From the airport.

According to the regulations, violators may be subject to prison terms of three years or a maximum fine of 1 billion IDR.

“We will take strong action against anyone who violates these rules,” Agus said.

Meanwhile, Resty Kusandarina, corporate vice president and CSR of PT Citilink Indonesia, said that the pilot of the aircraft had communicated and coordinated with the local tower to broadcast the events experienced.

Citilink’s engineering team, Resty continued, also conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft and confirmed that there was no damage. And certainly fit to fly again.

“Currently, the entire crew and passengers have landed safely,” Resty said.
