ABU DHABI, iNews.id – Khabib Nurmagomedov recently retired. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other Muslim mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters who can replace them.

The Russian fighter retired after defeating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 at Fight Island Abu Dhabi on Sunday (10/25/2020) at the WIB morning. Other fighters are expected to take up their posts.

Some of them were none other than Khabib’s brothers. however, they possessed abilities that could not be underestimated. Here are some of them:

1. Islam Makhachev

Islam Makhachev was one of the fighters trained by Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib’s father. He was also a frequent opponent of Khabib’s training in preparation for Gaethje.

His achievement wasn’t bad either, as he was a 2016 sambo world champion. He should have fought Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 254. However, the fight was rescheduled because Dos Anjos was positive for Covid-19.

2. Umar Nurmagomedov

Just from the name, it is clear that Umar was related to Khabib. Until now, it has mainly been on the local Russian stage. The 24-year-old fighters’ dueling record is no less compelling than Khabib.

Although he has played more frequently in his own country, Umar has had experience appearing in the United States (USA), that is, when he fought twice on the Professional Fighters League (PFL) stage.

3. Usman Nurmagomedov

Like Umar, Usman was Khabib’s cousin. However, right now he is not fighting in the UFC, but in Bellator MMA. At just 20 years old, Usman has overcome 10 battles in MMA without losing.

Most recently, Usman beat Jerry Kvarnstrom at the UAE Warriors event in just 40 seconds. Now, Usman is under Khabib’s trainer, Javier Méndez.

4. Kamaru Usman

Unlike the other three fighters, Kamaru has no connection to Khabib. However, he is one of the Muslim fighters who currently deserves to be considered.

Today Kamaru even owns a welterweight belt. He won the title after beating Jorge Masvidal on July 12, 2020.
