YAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will operate extraordinary trains from Tuesday (05/12/2020) tomorrow until May 31, 2020.
PT KAI Vice President of Public Relations Joni Martinus said there are three routes with six train trips that will be operated daily.
“There are six extraordinary train trips that we operate for people who are excluded according to government regulations with the implementation of the strict Covid-19 prevention protocol,” Joni said in a press release on Monday (11/05/2020 ).

Joni said the extraordinary train was operated in accordance with the issuance of the Covid-19 Acceleration Task Force Circular Letter Number 4 Year 2020 regarding the Criteria to limit travel by individuals under the Covid-19 handling acceleration.
According to the circular, the people who can use extraordinary trains are workers in Covid-19 driving services, defense and security, health, basic needs, important economic functions; emergency travel of patients or people with seriously ill or deceased nuclear families; and repatriation.
“In the context of preventing the spread of Covid-19, KAI continues to limit transportation capacity by selling only 50 percent of the train’s seat capacity,” said Joni.
PT KAI also made a line online and sat at the station and trained to implement physical distancing; provide body temperature meters, isolation rooms, health posts, hand sanitizerportable sink at the station; to routinely clean passenger facilities with disinfectants.

The following three train routes are operated:
1. Gambir – Surabaya Pasarturi PP (northern cross)
– Series: 4 executive trains and 4 economic trains
