Arthur struggled in his debut match as a starter in the Champions League with Juventus.
Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo revealed the reason for midfielder Arthur Melo’s sudden withdrawal from the start of the second half.
More recently, Juventus successfully defeated the Hungarian representative Ferencvaros with a score of 4-1 in the third match of Group G of the Champions League at the Puskas Arena, early Thursday (5/11) in the morning, West Indonesian time.
The goals for Juve’s victory were contributed by Álvaro Morata (7 ‘, 60’), Paulo Dybala (72 ‘) and Lasha Dvali (81’, own). While the rival consolation goal was scored by Franck Boli (90 ‘).
Arthur really started and saw no signs of injury for the first 45 minutes. However, Pirlo took him out in the middle of the half and brought Rodrigo Bentancur.
“Arthur did not feel well shortly after being on the court. He had indigestion, he had stomach problems. So he wanted to vomit,” Pirlo said at the post-game press conference.
“We kept him on the court, he wanted to stay on the court until the end of the first half. However, we want to replace him immediately, because he had trouble running and could barely breathe,” he added.
Arthur was signed by Juve de Barcelona in a player swap deal with Miralem Pjanic in the transfer market this summer.
Juve paid 72 million euros plus a bonus of 10 million euros. Meanwhile, Barça spent 60 million euros to hook Pjanic.
In his first season at Juve, Arthur has appeared in four of his team’s six Serie A games. While at UCL, this is the first time he has been trusted from the opening minutes.
Regarding the Group G classification, Juve remains in second place with an accumulated six points, three points behind the leader, Barcelona.
