Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President-elect of the United States (USA) Joe Biden finally introduced the national security policy team in his cabinet.
On Tuesday (11/24/2020), the team consisted of diplomats and veterans of the administration of President Barack Obama.
The details include the foreign minister, national security adviser, interior security secretary, the UN ambassador’s intelligence chief and the climate change envoy.
“America is back, ready to lead the world,” he said when the announcement was made in his hometown of Wilmington Delaware.
He said this team is a given that America is ready to move the world forward again, not backward.
“Once seated at the table (of the White House), (we are) ready to face the enemy and we will not reject the allies,” he said again.
“The servant of this country will restore America’s global leadership and moral leadership.”
In detail, he chose six women and men. Anthony Blinken, becomes Secretary of State of the United States, while Linda Thomas-Greenfield is the representative of the United States in the United Nations.
“As the president-elect said, we cannot solve all the world’s problems alone. We need to work with other countries, we need their cooperation. We need their partnerships,” Blinken said in his remarks.
“I want to tell you that America is back. Multilateralism is back. Diplomacy is back,” Thomas-Greenfield said.
Former Minister John Kerry has become his Special Envoy for Climate Change. Then, Biden introduced Alejandro Mayorkas, of Cuban origin, who was appointed Secretary of National Security.
Avril Haines was appointed Director of National Intelligence. Meanwhile, Jake Sullivan is the White House national security adviser.
Unfortunately, the Minister of Economy has not been announced. Several people close to say, the new official announcement will be next week.
However, some media confirmed that former Fed chief Janet Yellen will become Biden’s finance minister. She will be the first woman to hold this important position.
Yesterday, the administration of President Donald Trump finally allowed Biden to transition. This was a “big surprise” after weeks of lockdown.
