Journalists beaten by devices in demonstrations, police ask to report propaganda

Journalist who were beaten by the authorities while covering demonstration Reject the Omnibus Law of the Employment Creation Law to make a report to the Police Safety and Professional Division (Propam).

This was expressed by the head of Public Relations of Polda Jaya Kombes, Yusri Yunus, when he was asked for an answer about the beating.

The incident began around 8:47 p.m. WIB when authorities began beating the crowd by firing tear gas repeatedly.

As a result, Thohirin was beaten and his cell phone was confiscated. In addition, they took away his press identification and threw it away.

On the other hand, regarding the detention of the Merahputih.com journalist, Ponco Sulaksono, Yusri assures that he is already free.

“Your friend is gone,” Yusri said.

Ponco was previously reported to be at Polda Metro after being arrested while covering the demonstration.

Based on the information from the Merahputih.com editorial team, Ponco is effectively in charge of covering the demonstration against the Omnibus Law in the Monas, Gambir, Central Jakarta area. However, his whereabouts were unknown as of Thursday (10/8) evening at 11.30pm WIB.
