JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to lead the launch of the 2021 Social Assistance (Bansos) distribution program earlier this month.

The deputy for the Coordination of Social Welfare Improvement of the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) Tubagus Achmad Choesni said that the plan to launch the social assistance program will be implemented on January 8, 2021.

At the latest, he said, the launch would take place in mid-January, that is, on January 14, 2021.

“The launch of the Bansos distribution in 2021 will take place periodically disconnected and online. Choesni said the social assistance distribution that took place at the beginning of the year was carried out to increase the economic capacity, purchasing power and consumption of the community’s households.

The plan is to launch social assistance in a comprehensive manner.

The social assistance program that is launched will consist of regular and non-regular programs.

Regular social assistance programs include the Family Hope Program (PKH) for 10 million Beneficiary Families (KPM) and the Basic Food Program for 18.8 million KPM that Himbara distributes through the Prosperous Family Card (KKS), as well such as discounts on electricity users of 450 VA and 900 VA through the PLN System if it is postpaid or delivery of electricity token if it is prepaid.

Meanwhile, non-regular welfare programs include Social Cash Assistance (BST) at 10 million KPM distributed by PT Pos and Village Fund Direct Cash Assistance (BLT DD) at 8 million KPM distributed by the governments of the villages.

Previously, non-regular social assistance was provided in 2020 as social assistance due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
