President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) spoke about mass vaccination against coronavirus (Covid-19). Jokowi revealed that mass vaccinations would take place this year.

Jokowi relayed information about mass vaccinations in early 2021 through his Twitter account, on Friday (1/1/2021). Jokowi initially invited the Indonesian people to start this year with great enthusiasm and hope.

“We are entering 2021 with stronger steps. The costly lessons, the incomparable sacrifices during the pandemic, prepare us better. Let us cross the threshold of this new year with enthusiasm and hope,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi then said that there were several plans that the government would carry out in 2021. One of them, mass vaccination. For mass vaccination, he said, the government has secured vaccine supplies from Sinovac to AstraZeneca.

“This year, the government will carry out a massive Covid-19 vaccination. Indonesia has secured vaccine supplies from Sinovac, Novavax, AstraZeneca and BioNTech-Pfizer,” he said.

Jokowi did not specify when the Covid-19 vaccination would take place. However, in his New Years speech, Jokowi revealed that vaccinations would be done in mid-January 2021 to achieve herd immunity or community immunity, so that the spread of COVID-19 could be stopped.

In addition to mass vaccinations, Jokowi revealed that 2021 will be full of infrastructure development that has been planned. The big budget, he said, has been spent for the construction of dams, railways, airports and apartments.

“We will continue to fill 2021 with infrastructure and human resource development as planned,” Jokowi said.

“We spent a large budget for the construction of dams, irrigation networks, roads, railways, airports and flats throughout Indonesia,” he continued.

Not only that, the government also continues with the social protection program. Jokowi said that this program was carried out through basic food cards to collect social assistance (bansos).

“The government also continues with social protection programs, such as basic food cards, cash assistance, pre-employment cards, etc.,” he said.
