Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) highlighted the stability and peace in the Indo-Pacific region, especially in relation to the intensification of rivalries and tensions in the South China Sea.

This highlight was highlighted by Jokowi during a speech at the 23rd ASEAN-PRC Summit (Summit) virtually from the Presidential Palace in Bogor, West Java, on Thursday (11/12/2020).

“We all, without exception, have a responsibility to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea,” Jokowi said, quoted in an official statement on Thursday (12/11/2020).

The former governor of DKI Jakarta assessed that the current world situation is still marked by various uncertainties, including the intensification of rivalries and tensions in the South China Sea.

If this continues, Jokowi said, it is not impossible that a comprehensive recovery in the region from the Covid-19 pandemic will become increasingly difficult.

Jokowi hopes that the ASEAN-China partnership in the future can achieve greater joint progress through cooperation between the two sides.
