BPJS Health director Fachmi Idris said the government’s decision to increase participant fees in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 64 of 2020 is still in the corridor of the Supreme Court (MA) decision on cancellation of increases in contributions. At the same time, he was responding to the issue of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) mocking the Supreme Court decision.

Fachmi explained in resolution MA 7 / P / HUM / 2020 giving three options to the government to follow up, namely, revoke, amend or implement it.

Also, Fachmi explained, the issuance of Perpres 64 in 2020 actually helped the community amid the Corona pandemic, one of which provided assistance to non-wage earners (PBPU) participants and non-self-employed class III (BP). Where all these participants will receive a subsidy of Rp. 16,500 per person per month in 2020, and Rp. 7,000 per person per month in 2021.

With this subsidy, the contributions paid by the independent participants of class III of BPJS Health are Rp. 25,000 in 2020 and Rp. 35,000 in 2021. If not subsidized by the government, this class III participant must pay a contribution of Rp. 42,000 per person per month.

While the participants of the contributions of the central and regional contributions (PBI) are totally in charge of the government. The number of PBI participants amounted to around 133.5 million people from the central government, up to 96.5 million people and up to 37 million people. The contributions paid Rp 42,000 per person per month are totally paid by the government.

“If the government has subsidized Rp 42,000, the government has complied with this, the President decided. Therefore, the stages are clear that there is a relaxation of relief from Perpres 75 to 64,” he said.
