KOMPAS.com – Elected Jember Regent Hendy Siswanto purchased a Maung car from PT Pindad. The car will be used as an operational vehicle.
Quality inspector PT Pindad Suriyadi said that Hendy asked for a special color for the car, namely black.
“Haji Hendy is the first regent in Indonesia to buy a Maung Pindad car,” Suriyadi said in a written statement on Monday (2/15/2021).
Suriyadi hopes other regional chiefs can follow in Hendy’s footsteps.
“I hope this can motivate officials in other regions to encourage the development of the national auto industry,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Hendy has several reasons to buy this car made by PT Pindad.
The car that arrived at the Hendy Siswanto Center (HSC) office on Monday (2/15/2021) was deemed suitable for visiting remote areas in Jember.
“We bought this for personal needs, I have to go to the mountains,” Hendy told Kompas.com by phone, Monday.
Hendy also wants to show her love for local products. Also, the price of the Maung Pindad is not much different from that of a used Land Cruiser, around Rp.600 million.
The car model manufactured by PT Pindad is not inferior to foreign products.
“The value is cheap and the product is national,” he said.
I love household products
Hendy bought Maung with her own money. The car was used as a private vehicle.
Additionally, this car was also used by Hendy to campaign for her love of using household products.
Because, domestic products are not inferior to other countries.

He explained that there are 647,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in Jember. Hundreds of thousands of businesses will have a hard time surviving if Jember’s people don’t buy their products.
Hendy also hopes that the head of the regional apparatus organization (OPD) will be able to use national products as a means of transportation. Not only Pindad, they can buy cars from other manufacturers.
“As long as there is money, buy national products,” he added.
