Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, and the Minister of BUMN, Erick Thohir, visited Japan. Various agreements have been concluded, including cooperation between state-owned companies and Japanese investors.
This visit is the second time that the representative of the Indonesian government has visited Japan. Earlier, in early November, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir also visited Japan in order to strengthen cooperation in various sectors of the economy and health.
The series of visits also became the commitment of the two countries to strengthen cooperation. This commitment is inseparable from Prime Minister (PM) Yoshihide Suga’s visit to Jakarta last October. Prime Minister Suga and President Jokowi agreed to strengthen the synergy between Indonesia and Japan in a bilateral context.
Luhut and Erick met with various Japanese government agencies and some 20 leading companies, including Mitsubishi Estate, Mitsui, Hanwa and Sumitomo.
“Japanese investors are very supportive of our efforts to increase professionalism, transparency and accountability in managing BUMN assets,” Erick said in his written statement on Saturday (5/12).
“Indonesia is undergoing a major transformation, with state-owned companies moving towards better governance, transparency and accountability.
In relation to the financing plan and cooperation with various international institutions in early 2021, we are preparing several strategic infrastructure assets that BUMN is working on, such as toll roads, airports and seaports, ”said Erick.
