The course of the match
First round
Both teams opened the game with strong enough action. Several opportunities were created. For the host, an opportunity was obtained in the opening minutes of the game thanks to the action of Jamie Vardy. But sadly, Vardy’s efforts in the ninth minute couldn’t sweetly bear fruit.
Seeing this condition, Man United was not silent. Amid Leicester’s attack, which seemed more threatening, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fleet continued to fight to create opportunities.
A golden opportunity was finally created in the 23rd minute. Marcus Rashford managed to put his name on the scoreboard after making good use of a pass from Bruno Fernandes.
Rashford’s goal came from a Daniel James throw-in, Fernandes was able to greet him with a header and was immediately taken advantage of by Rashford who broke Leicester’s goal guarded by Kasper Schmeichel. Man United win 1-0!
Unfortunately, Man United’s superiority did not last long. Leicester called for Rashford’s goal in the 31st minute. Thanks to Harvey Barnes, Leicester managed to equalize 1-1.
Barnes’ own goal was created after using some good bait from James Maddison. Successfully dribbling the ball past Man United players including Fernandes, Barnes shot hard so David De Gea couldn’t stop him. The 1-1 score lasted until the end of the first half.
