JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan decided to extend the implementation of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB), which was tightened for two weeks until October 11, 2020.

The extension of the PSBB period is stipulated in the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Province Number 959 of 2020.

Anies said that the PSBB spread again because the number of positive Covid-19 cases has the potential to increase again if the PSBB relaxes.

“Based on the results of the monitoring and evaluation of the Covid-19 Management Acceleration Working Group of the DKI Jakarta province, it is necessary to extend the restrictions for the next 14 days if the cases have not decreased significantly,” Anies said in a written statement, on Thursday (9/24/2020).

Anies emphasized that the provincial government of DKI continues to coordinate with the central government in handling the Covid-19 case.

“In a coordination meeting related to the anticipation of the development of the Covid-19 case in Jabodetabek, the Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments (Marives) showed data that DKI Jakarta was pending and under control, but the Bodetabek area remained increasing, “Anies said.

“Therefore, it is necessary to align the policy steps. The Coordinating Minister for Marine Affairs also approved the automatic extension of Jakarta PSBB for two weeks,” he continued.

As is known, the PSBB tightening was initially implemented for two weeks from September 14 to 27, 2020.

The decision was made after taking into account a number of factors, including the availability of hospital beds that were almost full and the trend of active cases that had increased again during the month of September.
