Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Covid-19 Working Group spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito emphasized that the transitional PSBB, which is a relaxation of the total PSBB policy in DKI Jakarta, has an effect on the islands of Java and Bali.

“So it appears that the effect of population mobility due to the Transitional PSBB in Jakarta has an effect in various regions of Java,” Wiku said in a video conference at Graha BNPB Jakarta on Friday (11/9/2020).

According to the data, there was an increase in mobility during the PSBB transition period from August 31, 2020 to September 6, 2020 compared to the previous total period of PSBB.

This also affected the increase in cases with the addition of cases in Java and Bali, where as of September 10, the two regions contributed 64.18% of the total national Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, if you look at the zoning, there is an increase. The districts / cities entering the red zone increased from 65 to 70. Then the orange zone 230 districts / cities became 267. Then the yellow zone 151 decreased to 114 districts / cities.

“The yellow zone could decrease because it changed to the orange zone. The mobility of the population contributes to the increase in the number of cases. This is useful to observe the mobility of the population,” he added.

In line with Wiku, public health expert Dr. Iwan Ariawan, MSPH said that if you compare the mobility of the population with the number of daily cases, it will be seen that when 50% or more of the people leave home , the cases will increase.

“When PSBB, 60% of the people were at home, this was in Jakarta. As soon as they left the house, more than 50% of the cases increased rapidly,” he said.

He emphasized that the increase in cases should not have occurred, if the health protocol was implemented. Because according to research, health protocols prevented the addition of cases after the PSBB was relaxed.

“Our analysis is for a large city, Jakarta. 55% or more of the population is at home to reduce transmission. If the PSBB wants to loosen up, the 85% coverage should only be able to stay the same as during the PSBB,” he said .

According to him, there is a reason why there are people who have not worn masks. According to him, this is related to the perception of risk, where there are those who think that the risk of becoming infected is low.

“This must be corrected. At present, people are very likely to be infected. From the point of view of the apparatus, we must stop those who have not implemented health protocols,” he concluded.
