Is it true that Laboratory Director Wuhan ‘Bat Woman’ defected to the United States?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Virologist and director of the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Shi Zhengli reportedly escaped carrying hundreds of secret documents on the coronavirus. He reportedly attempted to evacuate at the United States embassy in Paris.

However, in fact, the problem was denied by the woman nicknamed ‘bat woman’ or this bat woman. Through Chinese special social media, WeChat, Shi posted a rebuttal, as well as nine landscape photos.

“Everything is fine for my family and me. Thank you friends,” he wrote, quoted by Global Times on Sunday (05/03/2020).

In the post, Shi also said, “No matter how difficult it is, (it will defect) it will never happen. We did nothing wrong. With a strong belief in science, we will see the day when the clouds disappear and the sun shines.”

Shi was in the limelight for having an important role in the Wuhan Virus Laboratory. She has spent years researching the coronavirus family in bats and even discovered the origin of the SARS virus that was once an epidemic in China in 2002. No wonder she was often nicknamed “bat woman”.

Furthermore, regarding speculation as to whether COVID-19 was made or leaked from his laboratory, Shi has also issued a rebuttal. In February, Shi had denied that COVID-19 had not come from his laboratory.

For Scientific American, Shi admitted that his laboratory had a corona virus. When the COVID-19 outbreak broke out, Shi and his team of scientists were investigating the virus under the official name SARS-CoV-2.

“I was wondering if this was from our lab. I was wondering if the health department was wrong. I never thought this would happen in Wuhan,” said the 55-year-old woman, stressing that there were no leaks in her lab.

Later, the United States government suspected that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was the origin of the coronavirus. Even President Donald Trump claims to have proof of it, although he claims he cannot show it.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has denied Trump about this. The Executive Director of the WHO Emergency Health Program, Michael Ryan, said that scientists who examined its genetic sequences had convinced WHO that the virus “originated in nature.”

“We have repeatedly listened to many scientists who have seen the order, have seen this virus, and we believe that this virus originates from nature,” Ryan said at a news conference on Friday (1/5/2020) yesterday.
