Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – An Iranian warship was accidentally hit by a missile from another warship that is also owned by the country. This incident occurred during training conducted by the country’s navy in the Gulf of Oman.
Quoting ReutersAt least one Iranian naval military soldier died and several others were wounded. This report was officially verified by Iranian state television on Monday (11/5/2020).
“The incident occurred in the southern Iranian port of Bandar-e Jask in the Gulf of Oman during training by the Iranian Navy on Sunday. At least one person was killed and several others were injured,” the broadcast said.
“The current status of the incident is undergoing a technical review,” said the Student News Agency ISNA.
As quoted from AFP, the ship hit by the missile was called Konarak. This ship is a supporter of light logistics made in the Netherlands and was delivered by Iran in 1979.
The ship weighs 447 tons and is 47 meters long. It has four cruise missiles.
Quoting the news agency TasnimKonarak reportedly sank due to missiles fired by other Iranian warships. The one who fired was Iran’s main warship, Jamaran.
“Jamaran accidentally fired the Konarak spacecraft with a missile,” the news agency said.
