TEHERAN, KOMPAS.com – Iran’s Supreme Court Chief Justice Ebrahim Raisi warned on Friday (1/1/2021) that Qasem Soleimani’s killer would not be safe on Earth.

He said this as Iran commemorates the year its top general was killed in the United States (US) attack.

Speaking at an event in Tehran to pay tribute to Soleimani, Raisi said that even US President Donald Trump, who ordered the attack, would not be safe.

Soleimani was killed in the attack. buzz The United States in Baghdad on January 3, escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.

“They will see severe revenge. What has happened so far is only fleeting,” Raisi said at a meeting at the University of Tehran.

“Do not believe that someone, like the president of the United States, who plays the assassin or orders an assassination, may be immune from justice. Never,” Raisi promised.

“Those who participate in this murder and crime will not be safe on Earth.”

Reported AFPThe event was attended by Iranian officials, and the speakers included representatives from allied countries, as well as regional forces, namely Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen.

Another commemorative act will take place in the coming days in Kerman, Soleimani’s hometown where he was buried.

Soleimani heads the Quds Force, a foreign operations unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran’s top authorities, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have previously said that everyone involved in the assassination of Qasem Soleimani will face retaliation.

In the days after Soleimani’s death, Iran launched missiles at bases in Iraq occupied by US soldiers and other coalition forces.

But Trump refrained from reacting to the reaction.

Iranian leaders called Soleimani’s attack a slap in the face and promised stern retribution to come.

Soleimani’s successor, Esmail Qaani, at the same event warned that retribution could come from anywhere.

“There may even be people in your home (in the United States) who will avenge your crimes,” he said.

The tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated since 2018, when Trump unilaterally withdrew the United States from the Iran nuclear deal and reimposed tough sanctions.

The two sides have also been on the brink of war twice since June 2019, especially after Soleimani’s assassination.
