On the other hand, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Zhao Lijian, denied that his troops had provoked the Indian army that guarded the border between the two countries, Ladakh, Himalaya.
However, Lijian said, Chinese troops never crossed the actual lines of control for any activity. This refers to the long unmarked border of the two countries in the remote Himalayas.
Meanwhile, PLA Western Theater Command spokesman Zhang Shuili said it was Indian troops who violated the consensus and crossed the border on Monday (8/31) in a provocative move to create tension.
“The actions of the Indian side seriously violate China’s territorial sovereignty, seriously sabotaging peace and stability on the China-India border,” he said.
He said that the Chinese military had taken the necessary measures to maintain territorial sovereignty and peace and stability on the border.
“We sincerely call on the Indian side to immediately withdraw its troops who crossed LAC illegally and strictly administer and discipline its front-line forces, practically fulfilling its promises, to avoid further escalation of the situation,” he said.
