In 2017, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended a meeting (Nobar) for the G30S / PKI movie started by Gatot Nurmantyo. At the time, Gatot served as TNI’s commander.

Gatot admitted that he thanked the PDIP politician for reminding him. But he said he was determined to show the dangers of the PKI.
“I said thank you, but there I gave him gas because this is really dangerous. And I was actually replaced,” Gatot said.
