LIVERPOOL, KOMPAS.com – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta felt that Alexandre Lacazette was not the cause of the 1-3 loss his team suffered when they faced Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Arsenal is the closing game of the third week of the Premier League that takes place at Anfield Stadium, on Tuesday (9/29/2020) WIB early in the morning.

Arsenal had surprised Liverpool when they won 1-0 in the 25th minute thanks to Lacazette’s goal.

However, that lead lasted just three minutes after Sadio Mane scored to equalize.

Liverpool, who seemed more dominant at the end, won 3-1 thanks to two additional goals from Andy Robertson (34 ‘) and Diogo Jota (88’).

Alexandre Lacazette actually has a golden opportunity to score his second goal when Liverpool lead 2-1.

The moment occurred in the 63rd minute when it was Lacazette who escaped the trap offside right in front of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Although uncontrollable, Lacazette was unable to complete the opportunity after his right foot kick was too weak and carried Alisson’s body.

After the match, Arteta admitted that he was a bit disappointed with Lacazette who failed to complete the opportunity.

Arteta considered that the result of the match could be different if Lacazette managed to score his second goal.

Although disappointed, Arteta did not want to blame Lacazette, who according to him had performed very well.

“We have a golden opportunity to equalize 2-2. If opportunity is a target, our position will certainly be stronger and more profitable,” Arteta said on the Sky Sports website.

“Anfield Stadium is a difficult place to visit. It is impossible to get 10 chances when playing for Liverpool. Therefore the smallest chance should be a goal,” added Arteta.

“When we managed to lead first, we should have been able to play better. However, we conceded too quickly,” said the Spain manager.

“I think Lacazette has had an extraordinary performance and I am proud of that. I want to see all the Arsenal players angry when they lose,” Arteta said of Lacazette’s frustrated expression when he was replaced in the 73rd minute.
