JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam), Mahfud MD, affirmed that constitutional science recognizes the argument that the safety of the people is the supreme law.
That means, according to Mahfud, people’s safety is the top priority.
He expressed this in a meeting with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and community leaders at the Kodam V / Brawijaya Surabaya headquarters on Wednesday (3/7/2021).
“The generally accepted argument in constitutional science is The health of the people is the supreme law, the safety of the people is the supreme law. If you want to save people, you can still violate the constitution, “Mahfud said.

This constitution can mean all constitutional laws, from the constitution to government regulations.
According to Mahfud, the government also upholds that principle when it comes to the Covid-19 outbreak.
