Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Minister of Social Affairs (Months) Tri Rismaharini blusukan to Jalan MH. Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Monday (4/1). In this blusukan, Risma invited several homeless people to take temporary shelters.
According to a written statement from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Risma initially met a woman named Fitri who claimed she had no place to live.
Risma asked Fitri a series of questions, but the woman did not answer many questions.
“You want to come with me. I’ll give you a place to live. Do you want it? Do you want it? But you’re not going anywhere. Someone will pick you up later,” Risma said, quoted in a written statement, on Monday (12/4).
After that, Risma met a middle-aged man who slept in a cardboard box named Kastubi. Like Fitri, the Kastubi also claimed to have no place to live.
“Dad, come with me. I’ll give you a place to stay so you don’t get caught in the rain. Someone will pick you up, but not Satpol PP. But you’re not going anywhere,” Risma said.
Risma made a similar offer to a man named Faisal. Of the three people, only the cooperating Chief of Staff and Faisal are willing to accept the handling of the Ministry of Social Affairs. In fact, Faisal admitted that he was willing to return to Asahan, north Sumatra, his hometown.
When they were picked up, the two men were escorted to the office of the Ministry of Social Affairs for breakfast. They then received an initial evaluation at the Social Rehabilitation Center for Ex-Homeless and Beggars “Pangudi Luhur”, Bekasi, including health checks according to the Covid-19 pandemic protocol.
In addition, they will receive temporary management before coordinating with the local government.
In her statement, Risma did not want the treatment of the homeless to only provide assistance on the basis of compassion, but also to pay attention to long-term independence.
Since the first day she was in Jakarta, on Monday (12/28), Risma has been blusukan several times. On the first day, accompanied by related officials, Risma reviewed the condition of residents living in the area around the office of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Pegangsaan Village.
Then the former mayor of Surabaya also visited the Gedong Panjang toll road, Pluit, North Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/30). There, Risma promised scholarships for child pickers.
