“It should be a combination of actions today, a joint alliance movement as well, an estimate of 10,000 if we unite. In fact, our action is on hold, and this is a portrait of democracy being emasculated by the authorities,” said SPN Banten president, Intan Indria Dewi, at the scene of the action, on Thursday (10/22).

Intan said his party plans to join forces with other workers holding a demonstration at the State Palace, Jakarta.

“In the Presidential Palace, we will meet there, the issue is to repeal the Omnibus Law, because it degrades the well-being of the Indonesian people,” he said.

According to Intan, his party is trying to negotiate to get to Jakarta. If this is not allowed, thousands of workers will continue to block access to the road to Tangerang.

“Because this is a movement that we have to make so that the government can immediately repeal this law,” he said.

Meanwhile, the mass of workers who are members of the Indonesian Metalworkers Trade Union Federation (FSPMI) have gathered near the Jalan Daan Mogot intersection, Tangerang. They will move to the State Palace.

In addition to FSPMI, another union that held a demonstration was the Movimiento Sindical Popular Conjunto (Gebrak). Gebrak meeting point at the International Labor Organization (ILO) office, Central Jakarta.
