The loss of savings to esports athlete Winda ‘Earl’ Lunardi and her mother worth IDR 22 billion has a long tail. Although, the head of the Cipulir Maybank branch has been named a suspect.

Now this case faces a new chapter. Maybank has also appointed Hotman Paris as its legal representative to oversee this case.

Hotman in a press conference that was held yesterday also revealed a series of irregularities in this case. Hotman revealed that the head of the Cipulir branch, Albert, who collected Winda’s money, had Winda’s passbook and ATM. This is the confession of the suspect in the investigation report (BAP) made by the police.

“So from the information above, since Winda opened this passbook and her ATM card, she said according to the suspect’s confession that she was holding the suspect. The question is you, as the owner of the money, why did you allow that someone else had their ATM card – someone else is being investigated by investigators, “Hotman said at a news conference in the Pluit, Jakarta area on Monday (September 11, 2020).

On that occasion, Maybank Indonesia’s Head of Financial Crime and National Anti-Fraud Compliance, Nehemia Andiko, explained that the customer had already handed over the savings passbook and ATM card.

He also explained that so far the customer has never had a problem with his savings book and ATM card held by the head of the branch. He also sniffed the flow of money from Winda’s account to various places.

“They say 6 billion rupees was spent. Where? Is that true?” Hotman said.

“There was a flow of funds from Winda’s account to Prudential (the value) was Rp. 6 billion (used) for the purchase of policies (on behalf of) Winda,” Andiko said in response to Hotman’s question.

Andiko said that the following month money from Prudential reached her father’s account in the amount of 4.8 billion rupees. This was obviously based on bead mutation screening.

Not only that, at the press conference, Hotman also revealed irregularities regarding the payment of interest. Hotman explained that while saving in the bank, Winda actually received interest from other people and the amount was less than it should have been.

“So the interest is paid from the branch manager’s personal account at another bank. It should have been Maybank, Maybank who paid the interest, right? But this is from another bank, ”Hotman said.

According to Andiko’s explanation, Winda received an interest of Rs 576 million. In fact, the accrued interest should have been Rs 1,200 million.
