Jordan Henderson is confused about the penalty for Brighton & Hove Albion. Even the Brighton players themselves thought the penalty was not worth applying.
Liverpool was sanctioned for penalties in the past extra time when they visit Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon (11/28/2020) WIB. Diogo Jota’s lead vanished when Pascal Gross cleared the penalty.
The penalty came after Andy Robertson was judged to have kicked Danny Welbeck’s leg. The replay showed minimal contact, but the referee decided that the violation had occurred after reviewing the video assistant referee (VAR) screen.
The penalty confirmed a bad day for Liverpool. Before, the ‘Reds’ saw their two goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ruled out for offside.
Salah’s disallowed goal was also controversial. The Egyptian player was considered offside because his toe was sticking out.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was asked about these three moments. He did not speak much about the two offside incidents, but felt that they should not be penalized.
“I can’t really talk about it because I’m going to get in trouble. If they’re offside, check the line, then what can you do?” he said to BT sport quoted BBC.
“The third moment, I don’t know, but it wasn’t a penalty. You may think I’m partial, but if you ask four or five of their players they will say the same.”
“They said it when they came off the court. You feel like there are a lot of decisions against you, but the decision for me is confusing,” added Jordan Henderson.
