Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Health Minister (Health Minister) Budi Gunadi Sadikin admitted that so far the strategy test, traceand treatment or the 3Q that the government runs to deal with the corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic is misdirected.
According to Budi, this was due to incorrect testing thus far. Because, according to him, a person can be repeatedly examined, for reasons of travel.
He gave an example, he could take the PCR smear test five times a week just to meet with President Joko Widodo.
“We are not disciplined, the testing method is wrong. There are many tests, but how does it keep going up, all people like me are evaluated. Every time they want to go to the president, they test them.” Budi said in a virtual discussion broadcast on the PRMN SuCi channel on Youtube, Wednesday (1/20).
According to Budi, the tests during a pandemic are not like that. The test is supposed to be carried out in people with a state of suspicion.
The former chairman and director of Bank Mandiri said that so far people who travel frequently often perform PCR smear tests.
This has resulted in an increase in the number of tests performed in Indonesia, so that it meets the testing standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
“But the tests are useless. Epidemiologically, these things need to be resolved,” he said.
As of Thursday (1/21), the total number of people tested in Indonesia reached 5,718,753 people. Meanwhile, the number of specimens examined was 8,560,220 specimens.
The spokesperson for the Covid-19 Management Working Group, Wiku Adisasmito, stated that the number of tests related to corona virus exposure conducted by Indonesia had exceeded the WHO target.
The WHO is known to aim for the number of tests per week in a region to be 1 in 1,000 inhabitants. With this proportion, Indonesia must carry out 267 thousand tests every week.
According to data from the Task Force, as of January 10, 2021, the number of people tested weekly had reached 290,764 people or had exceeded the WHO target of 107.69 percent.
However, the number of positive cases in Indonesia continues to increase. On record, the total number of positive cases in Indonesia as of last Thursday had reached 951,651 cases.
Of these, 772,790 people were declared cured and 27,203 more died.
