Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Member of Commission III DPR of the Gerindra Party faction Habiburokhman to visit Polda Metro Jaya to free the cadres of the Indonesian Islamic Youth (IIP), Wednesday night (10/14).
It is known that several PII cadres were arrested by the police after a rampant demonstration against the Cipta Kerja Omnibus Law on Tuesday (10/13) yesterday.
“I have met with the Chief of Police, in essence, he will welcome what we convey to them and God willing, these colleagues will be free tonight,” Habiburokhman said.
Habiburokman said there were 11 PII cadres who were arrested. So far, he continued, they were in good health after being arrested by the authorities.
Understand if the authorities misdirect people in the field. However, he continued, if the detained person is shown to be innocent, they must be released immediately.
“The correction is now when they arrest us now we check who are guilty and not guilty. If they are not guilty, of course we ask to be released. In my opinion, this is still within tolerance,” he said.
He also made sure that the 11 PII cadres who were arrested by the police were not involved in the riots during the demonstration.
Meanwhile, PB PII President Husin Tasrik said that the police apparatus had been unjustly arrested.
“Yes, there was an arrest error by the police,” he said.
Aside from the incorrect arrests, Husin also said that security forces had damaged the office. In fact, several PII cadres were injured.
“There is damage and there are also injuries from the PII cadres,” said Husin.
Previously, Polda Metro Jaya’s Head of Public Relations, Kombes Yusri Yunus, said that the arrest began with the riots around Menteng.
At that time, there was a tire burning action and road closures. The security apparatus had already issued a call, but the crowd ignored it.
After that, the authorities pushed back the masses and fled into various alleys, including the GPII office.
“Escaping and even entering GPII. There we insure these people, there are four that we insure and we understand,” said Yusri, on Wednesday (10/14).
