The high priest of the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI) Habib Rizieq Shihab (HRS) is officially a suspect in the crowd case in West Java. Habib Rizieq will be questioned next week.

Initially, the crowd in Megamendung occurred when Habib Rizieq Shihab visited the Agrokultural Sharia Markaz, Bogor, on Friday (11/13/2020). At that moment, the crowd welcomed the arrival of Habib Rizieq after several days of returning from Mecca.

There was a large crowd at that activity. Some of the masses did not even wear masks. The West Java Police and Bareskrim were investigating the case.

Bareskrim Polri later named Habib Rizieq as a suspect. “Rizieq is the suspect,” said Dirtipidum Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Andi Rian Djajadi in Komnas HAM, central Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/23/20202).

Habib Rizieq’s determination as a suspect was based on the results of the case title conducted by the West Java Regional Police on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Regarding the evidence, among other things, the testimony of witnesses to the test of the instructions.

Only suspect

The National Police said Habib Rizieq was the only suspect in the case. “The West Java Regional Police case title results on December 17 only established MRS as a suspect. (Habib Rizieq is the only suspect) yes,” said Bareskrim Polri Director of General Crimes, Brigadier General Andi Rian Djajadi, through a brief message to detikcom, Saturday (12/26/2020).

Andi said Habib Rizieq’s naming as a suspect was based on evidence collected by the West Java Police investigation team. Andi said the evidence included testimony from witnesses to evidence.

“The evidence obtained by investigators shows that the person responsible for the crowd incident that led to a violation of health protocol is the MRS. (Evidence) is the testimony of witnesses, experts and evidence,” he said.

Andi said the investigation team would then examine Habib Rizieq as a suspect. However, the exam, Andi said, was not yet scheduled.

“(Habib Rizieq) will definitely be screened, but it has not been scheduled,” he said.
