Google reveals the culprit that YouTube and Gmail went down simultaneously

Just information, aside from YouTube and Gmail, other Google services that crashed at the same time were Google Docs, including Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Forms. There is Google Classroom, Google Drive and Google Meets

A Google spokesperson said YouTube and Gmail went down and other Google services were caused by the failure of the company’s authentication tools. This tool controls how users log into services managed by Google and third-party developers.

“Today at 3:47 AM PST, Google experienced an authentication system issue for 45 minutes due to an internal storage quota issue,” a Google spokesperson said as reported by The Guardian and quoted. by CNBC Indonesia, on Tuesday (12/15/2020).

“The authentication system issue was resolved at 4.32 AM PST. All services are now restored. We apologize to all affected users and will conduct a comprehensive follow-up review to ensure this issue is not repeated in the future”.

A Google spokesperson added that the company’s internal tools should allocate enough storage space to the services that handle authentication, but it appears that this task did not mean that the system failed.
