Girl killed by a crocodile while bathing in a river, her body was found 5 hours later

KOMPAS.com – DV (17), a girl from Sebamban Baru village, Sungai Loban district, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan) died after being hit by a crocodile.

The unfortunate event occurred on Sunday morning (05/19/2020) on the Sebamban River, not far from the victim’s residence.

Upon receiving the report, the joint TNI-Polri apparatus and also the residents immediately went to the scene.

After searching for approximately five hours, the victim’s body was found about 50 meters from the initial location of the incident.

“The victim was found under a bridge, not far from where he swam. His body was intact,” Loban River Police Chief AKP Apri said Sunday.

Agents evacuated the victim to the nearest clinic, but her life was unsuccessful.

According to witness testimony, Apri said the unfortunate event began when the victim and three colleagues washed clothes in the river.

After that, they bathed together in the river.

Once satisfied with swimming, they had stopped from the river, but the victim was known to be jumping back into the river at the time and swimming in the middle.

At that time the victim was lost by the crocodile.

“This victim jumped back into the river, after that she was no longer seen. One of the victims’ colleagues named Jumia saw the crocodile’s tail and the victim’s hand brought into the water by the crocodile,” he explained.
