Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Chairman of the Presidium of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (U.S), Gatot Nurmantyo, criticized the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. He called on the government and the RPD to be more serious when facing the pandemic.

The reason, he considered that the public was confused by the government’s policy to handle the pandemic. At the beginning of the pandemic, he continued, the government attracted tourists to Indonesia, despite the fact that the management of Covid-19 in this initial stage was very decisive.

Furthermore, the government did not equip the Covid-19 task force, which at the time was led by Doni Monardo, for ‘strong weapons’. For example, the authority to stop transportation, the immigration sector, etc.

Then President Joko Widodo emphasized prioritizing health over the economy. However, when DKI Jakarta decided to reintroduce the PSBB, several ministers protested.

“With this confusion, we suggest to the government, the president and DPR that they be more serious. Yes, if the opposition responds, go ahead, but we want to be better,” he said.

The statement was made during an interview with Karni Ilyas uploaded through Youtube, ‘Maneuver’ by Karni Ilyas Club-General Gatot, quoted on Saturday (10/17).

According to him, handling Covid-19 is not in a single command, nor is it dangerous. It revealed that several regions carried out their respective PSBBs, reflecting the absence of a single command.

“From this, of course this is very dangerous, so the indication is that other countries have started to go down, the trend is that we continue to rise,” he said.

Play the Omnibus Law

On that occasion, he also offended the Omnibus Law of the Employment Creation Law. According to him, the rule raises concerns for employees.

This is because the Employment Creation Act amends a number of provisions regarding labor rights, such as severance pay and leave.

In the interview session, Karni Ilyas asked the former TNI commander about the Employment Creation Act, which was rejected by employees.

“I’m not quite ready to talk about the (Job Creation) Law, but I think workers should feel that their life is uncomfortable, worried,” he said.

In addition to severance pay and leave, he considered the Job Creation Law to Release Foreign Workers (TKA) to enter Indonesia. According to him, this condition is worrying because Indonesian workers are not prepared to compete.

On the other hand, Indonesia has a demographic dividend where people of working age, that is, 16 to 35 years old, dominate about 60 percent. Unfortunately, Indonesia has not prepared for this demographic dividend so from an educational perspective it is not optimal.

“With this type of labor condition, which cannot be met, there is still unemployment. If there are workers from outside, it will be difficult to compete,” he said.
