The minimum wage in 35 cities / regencies in Central Java has increased compared to 2020. Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said the increases ranged from 0.75% to 3.68%.
“The increase varies from 0.75% to 3.68% according to the results of the discussion of the Municipal District Salary Council and the recommendation of the Regent or Mayor of each region,” Ganjar said in a written statement on the sidelines of visit to the Tamanagung Village refugee post. Muntilan District, Magelang Regency, Saturday (11/21/2020).
The increase in UMK, he said, had been recorded in the decision of the Governor of Central Java of November 20 Number 561/61 of 2020 on minimum wages in 35 regencies and cities in Central Java.
“This decision is a social safety net in order to carry out the function of wage protection for workers or day laborers and business continuity for companies or businesses in Central Java province,” Ganjar said.
Ganjar explained that the regents and mayors when proposing minimum wage recommendations refer to the applicable laws and regulations and the contributions of the respective Regency Councils / Salaries of the City.
He stated that this decision came into force on January 1, 2021, in accordance with Law 11/2020 on Job Creation in Chapter IV on Employment.
