Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Vice President of RI 10 and 12 Jusuf kalla alludes to a “wide-ranging leadership vacuum” as the reason behind the growing support for the Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (REIT), Rizieq Shihab, in recent times.
JK also highlighted the uproar that followed Rizieq’s return, involving the TNI-Polri, making it appear as if the country was in a “shaky” condition.
The community, according to JK, is currently looking for alternative leaders who are seen to represent their aspirations.
“There is a void, once there is a charismatic leader, say so, or someone dares to provide alternatives, people support him,” JK said on the YouTube account of PKS TV, on Friday (11/20) night. .
According to him, Rizieq’s popularity is an indication that Indonesia’s democratic system needs to be improved, one of which stems from public mistrust in the legislature.
JK said the reason the community chose Rizieq as their aspiration channel was a question that had to be evaluated and answered. JK also mentioned the role of the PKS and various parties with other Islamic ideologies, which should have been able to fill the leader’s void.
“Especially the PKS and other Islamic parties, that there is a void in our system or form of democracy, especially in Islamic ideology that is then filled with the habib de Rizieq,” he said.
JK warned that this condition would not return Indonesia to the era of street democracy, when the people no longer had confidence in the state, so they decided their own way by demonstrating.
According to him, this condition caused losses to the state, such as hindering economic development and development.
“So public participation does not support what they choose, but chooses its own path to become street democracy again,” JK said.
“Why does the Covid problem still exist? Why not be disciplined? There is a problem with our dignity towards society that may not set a good example,” he added.
Rizieq’s return and a host of agendas have been in the spotlight in the last two weeks.
It was felt that the provincial governments of DKI Jakarta and West Java did not anticipate the crowd at Soekarno Hatta airport and allowed the crowd to continue at the wedding of Rizieq Shihab’s daughter.
In the wake of this series of events, the Kapolda Jaya and West Java metro were transferred. Then TNI sent a signal to Petamburan, the headquarters of the FPI, so that Rizieq and his supporters no longer split the unit. Pangdam Jaya, Major General Dudung Abdurachman, even threatened the FPI if necessary.
