JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The government through the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD conveyed his official position in response to the demonstration of the Job Creation Act (UU) that was tinged with chaos.
In that statement, Mahfud lamented that the demonstrations were tinged with anarchist actions by destroying public facilities and looting.
“This act is clearly a criminal act that cannot be tolerated and must be stopped,” Mahfud told a news conference that was broadcast. Compass TV, Thursday (8/10/2020).
Mahfud said that the government respects the freedom of opinion of the people, including when addressing the Employment Creation Law, as long as it is done peacefully, respects the rights of other citizens and does not disturb public order.
However, he regretted the existence of anarchic actions in the demonstration against the Employment Creation Law.

The following is the government statement read by Mahfud MD;
Good evening, noting developments in the field related to the delivery of aspirations for the copyright law of works in various forms in various regions, so in the interests of order and security in the midst of society, the government will broadcast the following matters:
1. The Employment Creation Law was formulated precisely to fulfill the government’s duties in building the well-being of the community through the creation of more job opportunities, the protection of workers, the simplification of bureaucracy and the intent to eradicate corruption and extortion and prevent other corruption crimes.
2. The government respects freedom of opinion and expresses aspirations related to the Employment Creation Law as long as all this is done in a peaceful manner, respects the rights of other citizens and does not disturb public order.
3. The government regrets the existence of anarchist actions carried out by the masses in certain places destroying public facilities, burning, injuring officials and also looting, these actions are clearly criminal acts that cannot be tolerated and must be stopped.
4. Actions to destroy public facilities and physical attacks on devices and members of the community are actions that are insensitive to the conditions experienced by people who are fighting the Covid-9 pandemic, as well as to difficult economic conditions.
5. Therefore, in the interests of order and security, the government will take a firm position against anarchist actions that aim to create chaos and fear in society.
6. In addition to manifesting in an orderly manner and not violating the law, discontent with the law can be pursued in accordance with the constitution, that is, channeling it in the process of drafting government regulations, presidential decrees, mints, regional headquarters as delegates legislative and even submitting them through the JR mechanism or judicial review. as well as formal trials before the Constitutional Court.

7. Once again the government will take a firm stance and carry out legal proceedings against all perpetrators and actors who engage in anarchist actions that have already taken the form of criminal acts.
