Jakarta –
Indonesia celebrates National Batik Day on October 2. Manchester United also congratulated their fans in Indonesia.
Batik is one of the original Indonesian cultures. This batik art has been known since the days of the Majapahit kingdom and continues to develop in various kingdoms of the archipelago, especially Java.
Initially, batik was only limited to being worn as clothing for kings and families, as well as for their followers in the palace. Little by little, this art was introduced and imitated by the community in general, and was used for various activities, such as weddings and other official events.
Currently, batik has been recognized as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO. The UN institution in charge of culture and education has designated batik as a Humanitarian Heritage for Oral and Non-Cultural Culture.
With the launch of the official UNESCO website, batik was designated as a world cultural heritage on October 2, 2009. This date was later used as National Batik Day by the Indonesian government.
Regarding National Batik Day, congratulations come not only from celebrities in the country. Manchester United, the club that holds the most Premier League titles, also provides a message of celebration for its fans in Indonesia.
MU’s congratulations were broadcast through its official Instagram account on Friday (02/10/2020). The Manchester club uploaded an image of a red greeting card decorated with a diamond motif.
“Happy National Batik Day for Indonesia! Let’s protect the culture! #NationalBatikDay #HariBatikNasional #MUFC”, read the message written by Manchester United through their account @manchesterunited.
