jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The National Police Headquarters took over the case of a clash between Habib Rizieq Shihab’s guards and members of the Polda Metro Jaya on the Cikampek Turnpike, which resulted in the death of six of Rizieq’s followers.
The handling of the case will involve the Propama Division of the Police.
“Currently, the case has been withdrawn to the National Police Headquarters,” National Police Chief of Public Relations Inspector General Prabowo Argo Yuwono said in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/8).
On Monday morning (7/12) there was a clash between members of the FPI paramilitaries who were guarding Habib Rizieq and the police on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) toll road KM 50 that resulted in the death of six followers of Rizieq.
Police said the incident began with an attack by Rizieq supporters as police stalked the Japek toll road.
The surveillance was carried out to investigate information on the issue of the mobilization of the masses that would guard the interrogation of Rizieq in Polda Metro Jaya.
At that time, according to police statements, the vehicles of members of Polda Metro Jaya were stopped by followers of Rizieq on the highway, then they were attacked with firearms.
The police eventually took revenge on the perpetrators, resulting in the death of six out of ten Rizieq supporters.
