JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Several figures declared the United Islamic Front after the government dissolved the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI).
The president of the FPI, Ahmad Shabri Lubis, and the secretary of the FPI, Munarman, were among the 19 people who declared the new association.
“To all the leadership, members and supporters of the Islamic Defenders Front in Indonesia and abroad, in order to avoid unnecessary affairs and clashes with the dzalim regime, we declare the Islamic United Front,” reads a written statement received from the Islamic Front United. In the statement, the declarants from the United Islamic Front also said that the government’s decision to dissolve the FPI had violated the constitution and was against the law.
They also considered that the dissolution of the FPI was only an effort to deflect the issue of the shooting of 6 FPI laskar by the police.
In the last point of the written statement, the names of 19 declarers were also included. Besides Ahmad Shabri Lubis and Munarman, there are other names such as Abu Fihir Alattas, Tb Abdurrahman Anwar, Abdul Qadir Aka, Awit Mashuri, Haris Ubaidillah, Idrus Al Habsyi, Idrus Hasan, Ali Alattas SH and Ali Alattas S.kom. Then there are Tuankota Basalamah, Syafiq Alaydrus, Baharuzaman, Amir Ortega, Syahroji, Waluyo, Joko and M Luthfi.
The FPI Undersecretary General, Aziz Yanuar, confirmed this written statement.
“Yes, there was a statement somewhere in Jakarta,” Aziz said when confirmed by Kompas.com.

Aziz mentioned that the organization of the Islamic Association Front is not legal and will not be registered with the government.
However, he assured that this new organization has legal status, namely, the ruling of the Constitutional Court Number 82 / PUU-XI / 2013.
In this decision, the Constitutional Court allowed non-legal organizations not to register. However, organizations that do not register will not receive government services.
“The basis of our law is clear,” Aziz said.
