“At trial, he found the defendant Joko Hartono Tirto legally and convincingly guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption together as the main indictment,” said Panel of Judges Rosmina at the Corruption Court in Jakarta late Monday (10 / 12/2020), as quoted by ANTARA.
“Sentence the defendant to life imprisonment in the form of prison,” he continued.
The ruling coincides with the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) who demanded that Joko be sentenced to life in prison and sentenced to a fine of 1,000 million rupees subsidiary to six months in prison.
According to the panel of judges, there were a number of burdensome things.

First, Joko was seen to be taking advantage of his closeness to another defendant, the former chief financial officer of Jiwasraya, Hary Prasetyo.
According to the panel of judges, Joko used cunning methods as if she wanted to free Jiwasraya from bankruptcy. However, it actually caused even greater losses.
So, the act of corruption has been committed for a long time, that is, 10 years. The act was only stopped after a change in the board of directors.
At the time, the defendant’s position as an advisor to PT Maxima Integra was considered only to facilitate Joko in carrying out her actions.
Joko’s actions are also seen as detrimental to the capital market world, losing public confidence in insurance and causing direct losses to society, especially insurance clients.

The panel of judges found that Joko’s mitigation action deserved not to be considered.
“The defendant was really polite and was the head of the family, but the defendant did not repent and admitted his actions so that the polite attitude and status of the head of the family of the defendant was erased in his actions,” he said.
For his actions, Joko was found guilty of violating article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Penal Code.
Joko’s life sentence is the same that was handed down to the other three defendants at trial today.
The three are made up of former Jiwasraya Chief Executive Officer Hendrisman Rahim, former Jiwasraya Chief Financial Officer Hary Prasetyo, and former Jiwasraya Finance and Investment Division Director Syahmirwan.
