GenPI.co – Amien Rais’s decision to form the Ummat Party was not considered as straightforward as when he founded the National Mandate Party (PAN).

The former chair of the DPP PAN Women’s Empowerment Department said he did not see an aura of change in Amien Rais’s new party.

“He is very different. In the past, the public’s expectations were attached to him (Amien). The passion to form a political party was different during the reform period. He was not too nervous,” Lely was quoted as saying by RMCO.id , on Monday (10/5).

He admitted that he really felt the public’s high hopes that the PAN would make changes after the collapse of the New Order.

According to Lely, the current aura is very different from the old conditions.

Lely explained that currently the public can conclude that the formation of a new party is just an attempt to vent political disappointment.
