PEKANBARU, KOMPAS TV – The head of the Pekanbaru City Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Husni Thamrin, and a member named M Nur Fajril were arrested by the Pekanbaru Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim).
The two were picked up by the police on Tuesday (11/24/2020) at dawn. They were then taken to the Pekanbaru Police for examination.
Kapolresta Pekanbaru Kombes Pol Nandang Mu’min Wijaya revealed that FPI President Pekanbaru and a member were questioned for forcibly dissolving a statement rejecting the arrival of FPI Grand Imam Rizieq Shihab in Pekanbaru.
As is known, 45 community organizations (Ormas) participated in the declaration of peace on Monday (11/23/2020) in front of the Riau governor’s office in Jalan Sudirman, Pekanbaru city, Riau.

Several organizations participated in the statement, including Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the Islamic Students Association (HMI), the Ulema Council of Indonesia (MUI), Pemuda Pancasila (PP), Projo Riau, Missouri and others.
“The FPI forcibly dissolved the statement of 45 elements of community organizations and community leaders who rejected the arrival of HRS (Habib Rizieq Shihab) to Pekanbaru,” Nandang was quoted as saying by Kompas.com on Tuesday (11/24/2020).
