Jakarta – Flores del Este Deputy Regent Agustinus Payong Boli said there were hundreds of people who had not been found in the landslide that affected the Nele Lamadike Village area, Ile Boleng district, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT ). The information was obtained from the village chief.

“The village chief of Nele Lamadike Pius Sword told me that hundreds of people had not been found in the landslide disaster,” said Agustinus, when contacted from Kupang, quoted by Antara, on Sunday (4/4/2021 ).

The landslides occurred early Sunday morning after extreme weather. Heavy rains and strong winds hit the local area for a long time.

Agustino said that the information on hundreds of people who were victims of the landslide was obtained from the result of a telephone communication with the head of the village of Nele Lamadike.

“Hundreds of people are said to have been buried by landslides and so far they have not been found,” he said.

He said that he is currently coordinating with related agencies to go to the field to carry out the handling, including the deployment of heavy equipment.

“We immediately deployed heavy equipment to the field to search for victims,” ​​Agustín said.

Previously, the East Flores Regency BPBD reported that five Lamanele Village residents died as a result of this incident.
