JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The National Police’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team managed to identify five victims of the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 crash on Sunday (1/17/2021).

“To date, of the 62 victims, 29 have been identified,” said Sunday the head of the Public Information Office of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General (Pol) Rusdi Hartono at the Hospital of the National Police.

The identities of the identified victims were Fao Nuntius Zai (11 months old), Yunni Dwi Saputri (34 years old), Iuskandar (52 years old) and Oke Dhurrotul (24 years old).

For another victim, the family asked that the identity of the victim not be released.

The five victims were identified thanks to the DNA comparison.

The victims on behalf of Fao Nuntius Zai, Iuskandar, and Oke Dhurrotul were identified with comparative data from DNA samples from their biological families.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DNA Laboratory of the National Center for Health Medicine (Pusdokkes), Polri, Kombes, Dr. Ratna, revealed that the victim on behalf of Yunni Dwi Saputri was identified from matching DNA profiles taken of Yunni’s toothbrush.

“With parents, so with a biological father, then the child’s DNA profile should be half that of the parents,” Ratna said at the same press conference.

“However, if you use the property as private property. Then this is a property that belongs to Yunni Dwi Saputri that was given to him by his family, so it is a must. match everything, “he continued.

The Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 aircraft for the Jakarta-Pontianak route reportedly lost contact on Saturday (9/1/2021) and crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands, between Lancang Island and Male Island.

According to the flight manifest data, the plane was carrying 62 people, including 40 adults, seven children, three babies, six active crew members and six additional crew members.

In addition to the body parts of the victims, the joint team has found a black box known as the FDR (Flight Data Recorder) and the fuselage. Until now, the search operation is still in progress.
