The new variant of the Corona virus found in the UK is now spreading to other countries. A Corona patient from Italy was found to have contracted Corona from this variant.
“Italy has detected a patient infected with a new type of coronavirus that is also found in Britain,” the Health Ministry said on Sunday.
Corona’s patient has just returned from England in the last few days. He landed at Rome’s Fiumicino airport and is currently in isolation.
Some of Britain’s neighbors in Europe are beginning to temporarily ban British immigrants. This ban was implemented amid fears that a Corona mutation in the UK would lead to an increase in Corona cases in European countries.
Several countries have also banned travel to the UK, including Turkey, Iran and the Netherlands.
How dangerous is the UK Crown Mutation?
British Medical Director Chris Whitty said the recently discovered Corona mutation was confirmed to be more contagious. However, there is no evidence that it can affect the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine that is being developed.
“Still, there has been no evidence so far to suggest that a new strain is more lethal or affects the vaccine,” Professor Whitty was quoted as saying by the BBC.
“We have alerted the World Health Organization and we continue to analyze the available data to improve our understanding,” Professor Whitty said in a statement.
What does the WHO say?
The WHO is also reviewing reports of new Corona mutations found in the UK. It was stated that WHO would continue to coordinate with British health authorities and monitor the new Corona variant.
“We will inform all member countries and the general public if there is more to learn about the characteristics of this variant of the virus and if there are implications,” the WHO wrote on its social media.
