Fake Honey Makers In Kembangan Every Day Swapping Chicken Noodles

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Banten Regional Police arrested the suspect who made fake honey in Joglo, Kembangan, West Jakarta area on Tuesday (11/10/2020).

The daily suspect is a chicken noodle merchant. However, with the growing demand for honey during the pandemic, the suspect began producing fake honey.

“The perpetrator is a chicken noodle seller. According to his statement, this is because honey was in great demand during the pandemic, it has good properties, many want it,” said Doffie Fahlevi, head of the Indag 1 sub-directorate Polda Banten, Wednesday.

Doffie explained, the suspect with the initials TM (35) made honey by mixing glucose, fructose, and molasses.

“He made this honey by listening around. I mixed it myself. It is dangerous if consumed,” Doffie said.

Doffie explained that some people who consumed the honey experienced vomiting side effects.

When the content of fake honey was checked with BPOM, no natural honey content was found.

TM was assisted by two other people who had been insured in Banten.

The suspect sold a bottle of honey which he produced for 25,000 rupees. For a production time, TM can generate a turnover of 600 million rupees.

TM currently faces a five-year prison term.
