JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The head of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, explained about the rejection of General (ret) Gatot Nurmantyo and several figures when they were about to visit senior officials of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE) who were detained in the Bareskrim building.
Argo said police would not give permission to visit if the suspect was still being investigated by investigators, although there was a schedule to visit.
“People want to visit the suspect, there is a schedule. If there is a schedule, if it is still under examination, we will not allow it, because it is still under investigation,” Argo said at the Bareskrim building in South Jakarta on Thursday ( 10/15/2020).

As for Gatot, along with other US officials they wanted to visit Anton Permana, Syahganda Nainggolan and Jumhur Hidayat.
All three were named as suspects related to the demonstration against the Job Creation Law that ended in chaos.
At the time, Gatot was present with other WE officials, namely Din Syamsuddin, Rochmat Wahab, Rocky Gerung and Ahmad Yani.
Argo also asked the public who wanted to visit him to respect the investigators who were still working.
“We also have to respect each other, the investigators are still working, they are still examining,” he said.

Reporting from Tribunnews.com, Gatot’s entourage initially wanted to meet with Chief General of the National Police (Pol) Idham Azis. However, Idham apparently did not have an office at the National Police headquarters during the Covid-19 pandemic.
On top of that, OUR group was unable to visit their three detained colleagues.
Gatot was not sure why the police refused to allow him to visit the detained US officials.
“I don’t know (the reason). Anyway, I don’t get a permit, no problem,” Gatot said.
