There are no winners in the Premier League Merseyside Derby. Everton and Liverpool had to settle for sharing numbers after playing with equal strength with a final score of 2-2.
The Everton vs Liverpool duel was held at Goodison Park on Saturday (10/17/2020). The match was exciting after the two teams exchanged goals.
The Reds opened the scoring first thanks to Sadio Mane’s quick shot, which Everton tied through Michael Keane. After the break, the visitors took the lead again after Mohamed Salah scored the second but the Toffees leveled the game with a Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal.
Everton himself finished the game with 10 men after Richarlison was sent off. Liverpool came close to winning the game if Jordan Henderson’s goal in injury time did not disallow the referee’s goal.
With this result, Everton have not been discouraged at the top of the Premier League standings after scoring 13 points from five games. Liverpool stayed below him after accumulating 10 points.

Liverpool nearly increased the score early in the second half. Jordan Henderson found a cross with a powerful right-footed shot that flew over Pickford’s crossbar.
Everton also created a golden opportunity. A Digne cross from the left wing was received by Calvert-Lewin but his shot was blocked by Adrian. An hour before the game, Everton threatened again. The ball, which Richarlison headed off a James pass, hit Liverpool’s post before it could be secured.
Liverpool finally scored their second goal in the 72nd minute. Henderson’s bait from the left was secured by Everton’s backline, but the ball fell into Mohamed Salah’s path. The Egyptian forward then followed with a volley that Pickford couldn’t help. Liverpool lead Everton 2-1.
Five minutes later, Liverpool almost increased their lead. Joel Matip heads the ball from a corner, forcing Pickford to make a good save.
Let the game begin! Everton matched again. In the 81st minute, Calvert-Lewin scored Everton’s second response, changing the score to 2-2.
Everton’s foray from the left killed Digne as he dropped the cross. Calvert-Lewin jumped high past Robertson’s guard and headed the ball into the bottom corner of the goal that Adrian couldn’t reach.
