Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Before the long Christmas and New Year holidays and the peak period of the second wave of the pandemic in Indonesia, the government made several efforts. One of the things that is controversial is the mandatory antigen test for visitors by land routes to Bali.

However, it turns out that antigen testing will also be mandatory for people going to and from Jakarta. This was decided at the COVID-19 Management Coordination Meeting in DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java and Bali on Monday (12/14).

The meeting, which took place virtually, was chaired by the coordinating minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, last Monday. It is known that Luhut is also vice president of the Committee for the Management of Covid-19 and the National Economic Recovery.

On the occasion, the governor of DKI, Anies Baswedan, emphasized that in his area it is forbidden to carry out New Year activities that gather a large number of people, as well as to celebrate Christmas directly together.

“We enforce this, Mr. Coordinating Minister and I hope the same policy will be applied in an area of Jabodetabek,” he said on Thursday (12/17), as quoted.

In accordance with Menko Luhut’s instructions, Governor Anies also said that he will start applying rapid antigens to people entering through the airport.

Two days later, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub) announced that it requires residents entering and leaving Jakarta to use public transportation to include a rapid antigen test. This rule will go into effect from December 18 to January 8, 2021.

However, this provision does not apply to private vehicles. The obligation to include a rapid antigen test only applies to potential passengers who will be boarding air, sea and bus transport.

“As you see, for rapid antigen testing it is a national policy, which means that for airlines, who are going to buy tickets, they have to perform the results of rapid antigen test. The provisions are, for example, to carry the airline A to buy tickets is usually a requirement. On January 8, everyone must include a rapid antigen test, “the director of the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Kadishub), Syafrin Liputo, told reporters at the DKI Jakarta city hall. , Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/16/2020). .

Potential air passengers will be the priority to check the rapid antigen test. Regarding the timing of this regulation, Syafrin said that it was adjusted to the Christmas and New Year transport periods.

This policy for the DKI regional government originated from the Ministry of Coordination of Maritime Affairs and Investments, which carried out a political intervention in the form of a measured and controlled tightening of community activities before the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The adjustment includes the WFH by 75%, banning New Years celebrations in all provinces and limiting the hours of operation of shopping malls, restaurants and entertainment venues until 7:00 p.m. for Jabodetabek and 8:00 p.m. for the red zone in West Java, Central Java and East Java. In addition, a tightening of the sanitary protocol will be carried out in rest areas and tourist attractions.

Also, Jodi continued, for train and plane travel, they will be asked to run a rapid H-2 maximal antigen test. This rapid antigen test has better sensitivity than the rapid antibody test. Especially for Bali, you should use the H-2 PCR test.

“We see that a measured and controlled adjustment is needed to maintain the capacity of the ICU bed so that the mortality rate does not increase significantly after the Christmas and New Year holidays,” said the spokesman for the coordinating minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments, Jodi Mahardi.

“With a policy of measured and controlled hardening, we see that the addition of cases and deaths can be controlled, with a relatively minimal economic impact,” he continued.
